The Bulgarian production Dyad, directed by Yana Titova, won the Grand Prix for Best Youth Film at Just Film, a youth and children's movie sub-festival of the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, the crew said on Monday. The prize was received by Bulgaria's Honorary Consul in Estonia Indrek Laul.

Dyad (also known as Diada) was picked from among dozens of entries in the international competition programme. It won the highest distinction "as a film that is captivating, heartbreaking but also talks about the importance of our social responsibilities towards upbringing. A film that combines a great scenario, wonderful directing and actors who played with all their hearts."

It is about a 16-year-old girl in a small town who dreams of a new life with her mother, who lives in the United States, where the girl wants to study art.

The main cast includes Ivan Barnev, Silvia Lulcheva and Stoyan Doychev. The movie was filmed in the southeastern Bulgarian town of Yambol in the summer of 2022. The director of photography is Martin Balkansky.
