On September 15 Placido Domingo will be conducting the opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi at the Sofia Opera and Ballet, the opera said, adding that in recent years the singer, who transformed from a tenor into a baritone, loves to conduct. Domingo usually does it during the gala concerts of his own festival "Operalia", from which Sonia Yoncheva's career started.
The Sofia Opera did not announce which performers would be appearing.
Domingo will perform a concert of popular arias from beloved operas on September 11 at Arena Sofia. "Bulgaria, I am very happy , we will be together again", he wrote on his official page. The 82-year-old singer, nicknamed "The King of Opera", is on a world tour that includes Sofia. His team says the maestro is preparing a special surprise for his visit this year. In 2014, he brought the audience to its feet with a performance of the song "My Country, My Bulgaria" by Emil Dimitrov.
