The Sofia Philharmonic organizes a concert of operatic masterpieces on Thursday in Bulgaria Hall, which includes renowned overtures, arias and duets, personally selected by Maestro Nayden Todorov. A second concert will take place on July 22 in Pravets.

The programme will feature excerpts from Puccini's La Boheme, Verdi's Nabucco and La Traviata, Dvorak's Rusalka, Bizet's Carmen, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and the operettas Die Csardasfurstin by Kalman and The Land of Smiles by Lehar.

Kosovo soprano Besa Llugiqi and one of the most acclaimed Bulgarian tenors Mihail Mihaylov will perform.

Llugiqi’s operatic debut at Tirana State Opera House as Liu in Turandot in 2011 led to engagements at numerous opera houses and international festivals. In 2013 she won the Grand Prix Award at the International Competition Elena Nikolai in Bulgaria. In 2018 she made her debut with the Baltic Opera in Gdansk as Thais. In 2019 she debuted the role of Ines in Meyerbeer’s L’Africaine, working on her role with stage director Vera Nemirova.

After studying the violin, Mihail Mihaylov started singing lessons at the age of 16. He graduated from Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy in Sofia in the class of 2011 under Assoc. Prof. Ivanka Ninova.

After reaching the final phases in “Operalia” 2017 and “Concours musical international de Montréal” 2018, Mihaylov strengthened his international presence and appeared on a number of prestigious stages such as: Teatro del Giglio, Italy; Auditorio Nacional de Música, Madrid and Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona, Spain; Osaka Festival Hall, Japan; Moscow Kremlin, Bucharest National Opera, Romania; The Krakow Opera, as well as at festivals Laval Opera Festival (France), Opera Festival Munot (Switzerland), Bartók Plusz Operafestive (Hungary), Jan Kiepura Festival (Poland).
