The Vazrazhdane parliamentary group tables a motion of no confidence in the Government of Rosen Zhelyazkov over "a systematic failure in the country's foreign policy," Vazrazhdane said in a press release on Monday morning. According to the group, instead of defending the national interest, the Cabinet "blindly follows the confrontational line of the liberal elite in Brussels, ignoring the desire of the Bulgarian people for peace, neutrality and dialogue."

"Under the pressure of foreign powers, Bulgaria has been dragged into a foreign geopolitical conflict, without public consent and without strategic benefit for the country," Vazrazhdane argues. The party add that the sanctions against the Russian Federation continue to inflict heavy damage on the Bulgarian economy, and huge budget funds are being diverted to military aid instead of health, education and social support. "Scandalous passivity followed the death of the Bulgarian UN official [Captain Marin] Marinov in Gaza - a shocking example of the refusal of the government to protect national dignity," the press release reads.

Vazrazhdane demands the immediate resignation of the Government and a return to a foreign policy based on national sovereignty, the pursuit of the welfare of Bulgarians and support for any peaceful initiative on the international plain.

The text of the motion is available in the parliamentary group's room in the National Assembly building for anyone who wishes to support it by signing it.
