Bulgaria's National Assembly will hear from Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Grozdan Karadzhov, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, and State Agency for National Security Chairperson Plamen Tonchev regarding the Bulgarian ship Vezhen, which has been detained by the Swedish coast guard in the Baltic Sea as part of a sabotage investigation. This is the first item on the MPs' agenda, according to the National Assembly's website.
On Wednesday, Minister Georgiev stated that the Bulgarian crew had not been arrested or charged, and no restrictive measures had been applied to them.
Also on Thursday’s agenda will be a hearing with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov, and Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov regarding Bulgaria's preparedness to protect national interests amid the process of changing ownership of the Lukoil Neftohim Burgas refinery.
MPs will also hear from Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova regarding the state of the country’s finances as the newly elected cabinet prepares the 2025 budget.
