The Joint Governance Council (JGC) held its first meeting on Tuesday. It was attended by GERB-UDF Deputy Floor Leaders Raya Nazaryan, Denitsa Sacheva and Prof. Kostadin Angelov. From BSP - United Left: Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, Deputy Floor Leader Kiril Dobrev and Deputy Chair of the National Assembly Dragomir Stoynev. From There Is Such a People (TISP): Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov, Deputy Floor Leader Stanislav Balabanov and Pavela Mitova. From Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF): Floor Leader Dzhevdet Chakarov and Deputy Chairman Valentin Tonchev.

Prof. Kostadin Angelov was elected the first rotating chairman of the JGC. He will lead the Council for a period of three months.

Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova and Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev attended the meeting as representatives of the government. Donchev was appointed to lead the work on the preparation of the general legislative and governance programme.

Temenuzhka Petkova briefed the JGC on the financial situation of the country and the urgent need for a regular budget.

Unanimously, the JGC approved that decisions from the Council be communicated by general press releases. This approach was already adopted during the government formation negotiations.
