Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov invited German companies to invest in Bulgaria’s energy sector, the Ministry said on Tuesday. "The country's energy system is transforming and your experience and expertise in promoting sustainable solutions in the sector are a serious advantage," Minister Stankov stressed during his talks with German Ambassador to Bulgaria Irene Maria Plank. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Energy Minister Georgi Samandov, Bulgarian Energy Holding CEO Valentin Nikolov and the management of Siemens Energy. In contrast to a popular idea of cheap labour, Minister Stankov highlighted the well-educated specialists in engineering as one of the country's main competitive advantages for attracting foreign investment.

"The last three years have been difficult in terms of the political situation in Bulgaria, but this period has been overcome with the election of a regular government," Stankov stressed. He focused on the security of energy supply, the development of the electricity and gas transmission networks in the country and the project for the construction of new capacities at Kozloduy N-plant as part of the main aspects of the Energy Ministry's work. "These projects are key to the energy transformation. Through them we have to build the new face of Bulgarian energy - emission-free, sustainable and affordable for consumers," the Energy Minister added.
