Ivan Ivanov was born on August 13, 1975 in Shumen (Northeastern Bulgaria), according to information on the Parliament's website.  

He graduated in History from the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia and in Law from the St. Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo. He holds doctoral degrees in History and in Management of Information Processes, the BSP press centre reports.

Ivanov has been a BSP MP since 2013. He is the Minister of Agriculture and Food in the 2021-2022 period.

Ivan Ivanov served as Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Food and Forestry in the 50th National Assembly. He is Deputy Chairman of the BSP-United Left parliamentary group in the 51st National Assembly.
