site.btaUPDATED GERB, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria to Hold Meeting
GERB has sent an invitation to Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) for a meeting, the party's press centre confirmed to BTA on Saturday. Later in the day, CC-DB said they have accepted the invitation.
The invitation was sent on Friday after the parliamentary sitting and was signed by GERB leader Boyko Borissov, the press centre added.
"After seven parliamentary elections, the dialogue between the first two political forces is a necessary responsibility towards the Bulgarian citizens. We believe that the constructive conversation for the liberation of the institutions (especially the Prosecution Service and the Anti-Corruption Commission) from the influence of Mr Peevski [Delyan Peevski, leader of MRF - New Beginning] is key to getting out of the political crisis," CC-DB wrote in their response to GERB. The coalition proposed that the meeting be held in a public format, with the participation of the leaders.
The fifth attempt of the MPs to elect National Assembly chair was unsuccessful. In the course of the debate, Borissov said that he would not withdraw the nomination of Raya Nazaryan after Continue the Change Co-Chair Kiril Petkov urged him to do so.
