President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova will attend the inaugural session of the newly elected 51st National Assembly, which will start at 10:00 am on November 11, the President's Press Secretariat said here on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said: "Since yesterday [Thursday], the presidential institution has been saying that the election of this parliament is illegitimate, therefore all resolutions made by it would be illegitimate. If they are illegitimate, why are we gathering on Monday [November 11]?". He was apparently referring to Vice President Iliana Iotova's statement to reporters on Thursday that she does not believe that this National Assembly is legitimate.
Borissov said: "I would expect either Vice President Iotova to apologize or the President [Rumen Radev] to withdraw the decree [for Bulgaria's 51st National Assembly's inaugural sitting] for Monday."
Borissov noted that he wants to see working and respectable institutions, "or she [Iotova] should not come on Monday to say that this Parliament is illegitimate, should refer the matter to the Constitutional Court and we would all to go to elections again".
On October 30, the Central Election Commission determined the distribution of the seats. Eight parties and coalitions entered Parliament: GERB-UDF (69 seats), Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (37 seats), Vazrazhdane (35 seats), Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning (30 seats), BSP - United Left (20 seats), Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (19 seats), There Is Such a People (18 seats) and MECh (Morality, Unity, Honour) (12 seats).
