"We appreciate the support of There Is Such a People" to the position of creating a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski and New Beginning, which pose a risk to democracy in Bulgaria," reads Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria's (CC-DB) statement, released on Sunday in response to the recent exchange of positions and TISP leader Slavi Trifonov's response to CC-DB's earlier call for freeing the institutions and election process from corruption influences.
"We join TISP's initiative to clear the official voter lists of the so-called "dead souls" [deceased voters and people who no longer have the right to vote still being on the lists]. This is an important step towards more fair and transparent elections in Bulgaria, which will contribute to strengthening the democratic process in the country," CC-DB said.
The TISP leader said Saturday that solving this issue [clearing voter lists of "dead souls"] is absolutely necessary in order to make the electoral process legitimate and acceptable to Bulgarian citizens. "If CC-DB signs this declaration, I will sign theirs immediately," Trifonov said.
"We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria have always supported and will continue to work for all initiatives that lead to a more transparent political process and fairer elections in Bulgaria.
