Four people tragically lost their lives in separate incidents at sea in the Burgas region over the past 24 hours, the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
The body of a 51-year-old Czech tourist was washed ashore on a beach in the town of Obzor earlier on Tuesday. In a separate incident, the body of a young local man was discovered near the village of Lozenets in the early hours of Tuesday. Additionally, two men drowned on unguarded beaches in the towns of Pomorie and Tsarevo.
Lifeguard posts along the southern Black Sea coast raised flag warnings due to hazardous waves. The Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry urged beachgoers to remain vigilant.
The beach warning system is clearly marked, with a red flag indicating "high danger" due to strong swells or dangerous currents, authorities said.
