An international plein air workshop "Poganovo Monastery" was officially opened at the Metodi Meta Petrov Gallery in Dimitrovgrad on August 23, the Bulgarian-Serbian portal FAR reported on Tuesday.

The cultural and artistic part of the programme featured students from the Dr Dragutin Gostuski", music school and the plein air event was officially opened by the gallery acting director Albena Mileva.

"I hope that during your stay here you will find inspiration in the peace and quiet of Poganovo Monastery and the beauty of nature. Your works will undoubtedly contribute not only to your professional development, but also to the enrichment of the cultural landscape of our society," Mileva said.

Works by last year's plein air participants were presented at the event.

In this year's plein-air workshop, which will last until August 31, ten artists will participate, and Marija Masa Jovanovic, Ivan Randjelovic, Miroslav Mandic, Joskin Siljan from Serbia, Tsvetina Geneva, Erina Boyanova, Marin Georgiev Marinov from Bulgaria, Tamara Osmajlic from Montenegro, Polina Izvekova from Russia and Zoran Ignjatovic from Slovenia.

The organizer of the plein air is the Cultural Centre - Metodi Meta Petrov Gallery. It was founded in 1993 and artists from almost all continents have visited. The Poganovo Monastery Plein Air is one of the most significant cultural events in this part of Serbia and the Balkans, FAR notes.
