Customs officers found and detained 241,020 undeclared British pounds during an inspection of a lorry at ​​the Danube Bridge border checkpoint near Vidin - Calafat, the Customs Agency said on Tuesday.

The customs officers carried out an inspection of the vehicle, during which they found a case with 44 packages wrapped in black nylon containing a total of GBP 241,020. 

The driver, a Turkish citizen, has been detained for up to 72 hours for failing to declare the money and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
