Top-seeded Bulgarian female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova was defeated in the first round of the US Open Tennis Championships.
Tomova lost to 29th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, 7-6 (4), 0-6, 5-7 in a match that lasted little over two hours.
She failed to score her first victory in the main draw of her fourth US Open tournament.
