A fire is burning on the territory of Turkiye, a kilometre from the Bulgarian border in the area of Malko Tarnovo, said caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov, who visited the villa area Dondukovo near the village of Zlatosel. He pointed out that fire brigade and forestry teams had already been sent to the site.

The minister commented that the situation is almost back to normal throughout Bulgaria. The fire is still raging on the Greek border, but the fronts are contained.

In a conversation with the Greek Ambassador, Stoyanov declared Bulgaria’s readiness to assist its southern neighbour under the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism by providing firefighting staff and machinery.

The situation in the Dondukovo villa area is calm. The fire has been localized. Firefighters and foresters will be on duty throughout the day and night.
