The state of emergency on the territory of the Municipality of Strumyani has been lifted, it transpired from the order of Mayor Emil Iliev, published on the website of the local administration.

Due to the urgent measures taken to contain and extinguish the forest fire, which broke out on the territory of the Municipality of Strumyani, the natural disaster has been contained and the situation brought back to normal, which means that the circumstances for declaring the state of emergency are no longer in place, it has been lifted, the order says.

A state of emergency was declared on the territory of the Municipality on Tuesday because of the big fire in the area.  Earlier on Saturday, the Mayor of the Municipality, Emil Iliev, told BTA that the fire had been contained and the evacuated residents of the villages of Tsaparevo and Karpelevo were returning to their homes.

There are two other large fires on the territory of the municipality - in Senokos and on the Bulgarian-Greek border in the Slavyanka mountain. The state of emergency in the municipality of Simitli is still in force. The fire in Slavyanka is still active, Blagoevgrad Regional Governor Georgi Dinev said Saturday morning.
