"There is a court decision, there is a registration by the court, therefore there is a party representative and his signature is fully legitimate. Everything else is a strange attempt to sabotage the party, the process of consolidation going on in the Bulgarian Socialist Party and in the left political space," Atanas Zafirov, the acting chairman of the BSP, said on Saturday evening in response to Korneliya Ninova, who earlier on Saturday said that she is still BSP's chairperson.
On Saturday morning, Ninova said that she was still the BSP chairperson and that any party-related document signed by someone else was illegal.
"According to the ruling of the Sofia City Court on Wednesday, there is an acting chairperson and party representative in my person. This is the legal terminology and this is the truth," Zafirov said. He described what Ninova said as "untruths". According to him, such statements ruin the image of the party. The lists are approved by the National Council of the BSP and these speculations should be stopped, Zafirov said when asked whether he or Ninova would rank the candidate lists in possible elections.
''We have not asked for a third mandate, we have no such decision,'' the acting BSP chairman said. "If you ask me for my personal opinion - we have to get out of partisanship and seek the broadest possible national consensus so that we can meet the expectations of the public to form a government," Zafirov said.
