Ruse Police arrested a 50-year-old man after finding 27 kilograms of marijuana on the property where he lives in Ruse (Northeastern Bulgaria), said Daniela Malcheva, a spokeswoman of the town's Regional Police Directorate.

It turned out to be a 50-year-old resident of Golyamo Vranovo, known to law enforcement. During a search of the property where he lived in the village, investigating police officers found and seized a total of 27 polythene bags, each containing about a kilogram of a marijuana. 

The drug was hidden in a dog kennel in the yard of the property. According to preliminary data, the seized amount is worth about BGN 548,000, Malcheva said.

The 50-year-old man was detained for up to 24 hours. Pre-trial proceedings have been opened in the case. The investigation continues under the supervision of the District Prosecution Office in Ruse.
