MRF Parliamentary Group Deputy Chair Yordan Tsonev expressed support for the government-forming mandate of the election winner during consultations with President Rumen Radev on Monday. "It is most logical to back the mandate of the election winner," Tsonev said as representatives of his party met with President Rumen Radev for consultations before he presents a mandate to GERB.

“The MRF is aware of its responsibility to the voters to form a regular cabinet and support a stable majority, and we are committed to this path. The question is whether the other political forces understand this responsibility and, more importantly, how they interpret it,” Tsonev said.

He continued: "We believe it is most logical to support the mandate of the election winner. Furthermore, the smaller parties' offer to form a cabinet on their mandate aligns with the fact that this mandate will still rely on support from the first two political forces."

He added that citizens have demanded prioritizing problem-solving over political interests and that in the current complex scenario.

MRF urged the President to mediate and persuade political parties of the need for a workable resolution, emphasizing that elections should be a measure of last resort, not the first.

"The election results indicate a violation of trust in political subjects and the political process in the country. This trend has been particularly strong in recent years," Tsonev continued, attributing this to political forces distancing people's agenda from that of the institutions. "Election results clearly show people do not want new elections. They want a stable political process and a majority that addresses their problems", he said.
