Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chair Delyan Peevski told journalist that GERB's candidate for chairperson of the National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan, should be supported. "The best thing is for the first political force to get the head of parliament. This is the tradition and we should respect it. There is no point in new elections. We do not need saviours of Bulgaria, I do not see what they will lead to. We have seen how far 'the saviours' have taken us," Peevski said.

"What starts today without the election of a parliamentary speaker shows that the parties have not understood the lesson of the Bulgarian citizens. I think all parties should humble themselves”, MRF Chair added.

Earlier on Wednesday, members of parliament failed to elect the chairperson of the 50th National Assembly after two rounds of voting. There were four candidates for the post, of whom Vazrazhdane’s Petar Petrov and Raya Nazaryan from GERB-UDF stood in the second round.
