More than 500 pages of opinions on the amendments to the Judicial System Act have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice, caretaker minister Maria Pavlova told journalists, after on May 7 the public discussion on the texts in the judicial law ended.
The received opinions are currently being processed by the ministry’s legislation council, Pavlova said. After reviewing the materials, the council is to draw up a table with the proposals and say which ones will be accepted by the end of the month.
According to the minister, reasons will also have to be written on why some opinions are accepted and others rejected. Then, based on the suggestions, they will be reviewed by the deputy ministers of justice, and eventually – by the minister.
Pavlova did not rule out the possibility that some of the texts that were prepared by the previous Justice Ministry team could be edited. She expects the texts to be submitted to Parliament after the elections, as this National Assembly is nearing the end of its term.
