MPs will make their seventh attempt to elect a chairperson for the 51st National Assembly on Thursday.

On Wednesday, four candidates were in the running: Raya Nazaryan from GERB-UDF, Silvi Kirilov from There Is Such a People (TISP), Natalia Kiselova from BSP-United Left, and Petar Petrov from Vazrazhdane. Nazaryan and Kirilov advanced to a run-off, but neither secured the necessary votes to be elected.

In the second round, Nazaryan received 69 votes in favor, all from GERB-UDF, while Kirilov was supported by 100 MPs from Continue the Change, Vazrazhdane, the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, TISP, and Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh).
