GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Nikolay Denkov from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), traded recriminations over Parliament's six failed attempts to elect a chairperson after the October 27 snap elections. They talked to the media before the seventh attempt on Thursday.
Borissov said it was difficult to talk with Continue the Change about anything because "they disregard the things we have done together". He took issue with a Nova TV interview with Nikolay Denkov, who was prime minister of a government based on an agreement between CC-DB and GERB-UDF.
Denkov said Parliament's work was blocked by GERB "apparently in agreement with [Delyan Peevski's] MRF-New Beginning. They are happy with this blocked Parliament as they want to make appointments in the judiciary. They are happy to keep things as they are." In addition, he said there was a basis for talks with GERB, provided that first, they agreed on an equally acceptable prime minister, because CC-DB have absolutely no trust in Borissov, and second, that Peevski was isolated so as to stop him from grabbing more power.
