site.btaBulgaria-US Cooperation Contributes to Energy Security in Bulgaria and the Region
Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and US Ambassador Kenneth Merten who met here on Friday agreed that Bulgaria and the USA have fruitful cooperation in joint projects of mutual interest that will contribute to achieving energy security, the Government's press service reported. The cooperation between the two countries contributes to increasing energy security and diversification of sources and routes of supply not only in Bulgaria but also in the region.
The meeting expressed mutual satisfaction with the results achieved in the energy sector, especially in gas diversification. It was pointed out that Bulgaria has taken impressive steps in this direction.
Glavchev expressed confidence that the partnership with the US in nuclear energy will also continue. The current Government's main priorities include the construction of the Kozloduy NPP's 7th and 8th units, as the power plant is of strategic importance for Bulgaria and the region's energy security as well as for achieving the decarbonization goals.
The progress of the project for the expansion of the Chiren underground gas storage facility was also on the agenda.
