We urge the two political entities [of the ruling majority] to find a way to have a government, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) co-chairman Dzhevdet Chakarov said on bTV. He stressed that the MRF will continue to be a predictable party.
“We follow the processes, the two main entities in the "assemblage" or "non-coalition" have to make their analysis. Our call is for them to show sense for the sake of the country, so that there is stability,” said Chakarov. He said in terms of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, Romania has outpaced Bulgaria many times over, while under the EU programmes progress is not what it should be. “Our call is to show a statesmanlike attitude, we take our responsibility to be constructive,” the MRF co-chairman said.
It is very important for Bulgaria to have a stable government in view of the situation in the world, in the region and what is developing in Ukraine, Chakarov stressed. The MRF support the policies regarding the European Union and NATO. The price of support is for the country to have democratic development, we all pay in the context of rights and freedoms for security, for the sovereignty of the country,” said Chakarov.
Of appointments on the regulators, Chakarov said that they are not on the agenda and first the MRF will have to see what will happen with the government. “We have people with serious expertise. Why not involve people with expertise who could be effective, with a contribution to the better development of the relevant regulatory mechanisms,” said Chakarov.
There should be a government, as there are a number of other things that need to be addressed - reform in healthcare, in education, fairer social policy, working with EU and national funds to level standards in the regions, reform in justice, he said.
“The MRF dos not want ministers, we cannot be included in a coalition agreement,” Chakarov added.
There is a new collective beginning in the MRF in the face of the new co-chairmen, he said. He pointed out that he and Delyan Peevski will work as a team. Of honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan, Chakarov said that they see each other as often as necessary and consult him on political and organizational issues. It is very important that people's problems are at the centre of political issues, Chakarov added.
On February 24, Dzhevdet Chakarov and Delyan Peevski were elected co-chairmen of the MRF at the XI National Conference of the party.
