Bulgaria Wins Three Medals at European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics

The Bulgarian national team won one gold and two silver medals as well as a diploma at the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in the Netherlands, the Ministry of Education and Science said Monday. The competition, which took place from July 21 to 27, was held for the fourth consecutive year with the participation of 196 girls from 57 countries.

The gold medal went to tenth-grader Simona Hristova from the Nancho Popovich Profiled High School of Natural Science and Mathematics in Shumen (Northeastern Bulgaria). She ranked fifth in Europe.

The two silver medals went to Mermin Idiriz from the Nancho Popovich High School in Shumen and Nora Paskaleva from the American College of Sofia.

Eleventh-grader Reni Paskaleva from the First Private High School of Mathematics in Sofia received a diploma.

This was Bulgaria's best performance at the EGOI.
