The There Is Such a People (TISP) and Vazrazhdane parliamentary groups will refer certain provisions of the 2024 State Budget Act to the Constitutional Court, TISP Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov and Vazrazhdane Deputy Floor Leader Petar Petrov told a joint news briefing here on Wednesday. The necessary signatures have already been collected, they specified.

In Yordanov's words, the budget of Finance Minister Assen Vassilev contains unconstitutional texts. The provisions in question violate the principle that Bulgaria is a state governed by the rule of law. They do not concern the capital expenditure index under the budgets of ministries and departments, Yordanov specified.

He went on to say that the provisions in question create preconditions for practices where the Council of Ministers or a minister can at their own discretion take over the National Assembly's legislative role and change budgetary relations. There is also lack of clarity and specificity in some provisions.

Petrov explained that certain provisions of the 2024 State Budget Act create unpredictability and take over the MP's will.
