site.btaGERB Leader Borissov Confers with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan

GERB Leader and Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee Chair Boyko Borissov conferred with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan at the National Assembly building, Borissov said on Facebook on Tuesday. The two sides discussed security and stability in Europe and the Black Sea region.

Borissov stressed that he and Fidan have united around the conclusion that as NATO partner countries Bulgaria and Turkiye will continue to cooperate in ensuring stability in the Black Sea region in the context of the war in Ukraine. "We also discussed cooperation between the two countries in the fight against illegal migration," the leader of GERB explained, adding that he had assured the Turkish Foreign Minister that Bulgaria would continue to support his country’s European path.

Borissov noted he told Fidan that Bulgaria would continue to be an example of ethnic and religious tolerance.

During his working visit to Bulgaria, Fidan conferred with his Bulgarian counterpart Mariya Gabriel, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, and President Rumen Radev.
