In January 2024, the average monthly temperature will be around the norm, which is from minus 2C to 1C in Northern Bulgaria and high plains, from 0C to 4C in Southern Bulgaria and along the Black Sea coast, and from minus 10C to minus 3C in the mountains. The lowest temperature will be minus 13C and the highest, 18C, meteorologist Krassimir Stoev of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology told BTA.

The monthly precipitation will be around and above the norm, which is between 30 and 70 l/sq m. 

The weather in the Balkans will be dynamic in the first month of 2024. January will start with warm and dry weather, with fog in lowlands. Rain and snow are expected between January 5 and 10. 

Snow showers are forecast for the January 10-20 period, with temperatures around and below the usual for this time of the year.

Between January 20 and 31, the temperatures will be close to the norm. Showers are more likely around January 20 and January 25. 

At the start of January, the sun rises at 07:56 am and sets at 05:03 pm in Sofia; the day is 9 hours and 6 minutes long. At the end of the month, the sun rises at 07:42 am and sets at 05:37 pm; the day is 9 hours and 55 minutes long.
