European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova took part in a forum that discussed the participation of scientific departments of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) in large-scale international projects, the BAS press service reported on Friday.

BAS Scientific Secretary-General Prof. Neli Koseva presented the results of scientists' multilateral activities, as well as the implementation of projects under framework programmes for research. BAS is actively involved in scientific capacity development, as it coordinates 23 out of 51 infrastructure sites under the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructure.

BAS President Julian Revalski and Prof. Vasil Nikolov presented the publication Bulgarian Alphabets, which the Commissioner pledged to promote.

Ivanova visited the laboratory for 3D digitalization and microstructural analysis at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies. The scientists made a demonstration and virtual presentation of 3D models obtained by laser scanning, close-range and aerial photogrammetry. The showed the latest 3D digitization tools, as well as laser scanning and computed tomography systems. A new industrial tomograph with the capability to perform both micron and submicron scale imaging was also presented.
