Interior Minister Daniel Mitov met with Martin McDowell, Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the United States in Sofia, the press centre of the line ministry said on Friday evening.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review bilateral cooperation in the field of interior affairs and identify steps to activate it at the political and professional level. The two sides stressed the strategic nature of the interaction in areas of mutual interest.

Minister Mitov introduced his guest to Bulgaria's priorities in the field of home affairs, including border security, the fight against illegal migration and cross-border organized crime, cybersecurity, etc.

The importance of Bulgaria's accession to the US Visa Waiver Program was also noted.

At the end of the conversation, the two agreed on the need to continue active dialogue at all levels and deepen cooperation.
