Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) would back any measure that would limit the use of vapes and energy drinks, MP Alexander Simidchiev (CC-DB), who is a doctor by training, told reporters in Parliament Friday. Earlier in the day GERB-UDF announced moving for a total ban on e-cigarettes and a ban on sale of energy drinks to minors.

Simidchiev commented that due to the lack of regulation, the use of electronic cigarettes and energy drinks in Bulgaria is very high and "disrupts the fabric of society". He pointed out that when a substance is inhaled, it reaches the brain in approximately 15 seconds, whereas if administered intravenously, it takes two to three times longer. That means that vaping has a much faster effect, and since it is not associated with needles, its spread is significantly higher.

Simidchiev explained that one of the severe consequences of vaping among minors is the potential onset of psychosis.

He also emphasized that when it comes to healthcare-related issues, there is a majority in parliament that shares the same perspective.
