Bulgaria’s Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev conferred with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Bulgaria, Rami bin Saud Al-Otaibi, the Sports Ministry said in a press release on Thursday. The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia in the fields of youth and sports.

Both sides emphasized the signing of a memorandum to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. "Bulgaria considers Saudi Arabia one of its key prospective partners. We are ready to finalize the process of signing the document. It is important for us to exchange experience and best practices," Minister Peshev said.

Peshev and Al-Otaibi discussed training opportunities for coaches and sports specialists offered by the Vassil Levski National Sports Academy. The minister highlighted the academy’s crucial role in Bulgarian sports, as it provides high-standard training in 47 different sports disciplines.

The Saudi ambassador emphasized the importance of sports as a foundation for international cooperation. He also shared Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which places a strong focus on investment in public health through sports and the development of major infrastructure projects.

During the meeting, the two officials also discussed exchange programmes for young people at Bulgaria’s international youth centres, which provide opportunities for youth sector development.
