The National Protection Service (NPS) has been awarded the organizers' special prize of the prestigious Commando Challenge - the British Light Infantry II Battalion Plaque, in recognition of the high level of training of NPS personnel, the NPS said in a press release here on Monday.

The honour was accepted by the NPS team, winner of the fourth edition of the competition, which was held on September 29. Officers from the Security sector, Interior Ministry, and the Bulgarian Army participated in the competition.

The trophy was presented by British Army veteran John Stanford, who served in Basra, Iraq, at the time of the attack on the India base in Karbala on December 27, 2003. Thе 2023 Commando Challenge coincided with the 20th anniversary of the deaths of the five Bulgarian servicemen in the attack on the Bulgarian contingent.
