site.btaBulgaria and South Korea Can Promote Partnership in Industry and High Technology, President Radev Says

Bulgaria and South Korea enjoy excellent bilateral relations, rapidly developing economic and investment cooperation and potential for a future expansion of their partnership in industry and high technology, President Rumen Radev told his South Korean counterpart Yoon Suk Yeol, as quoted by his Press Secretariat. The two met on September 20 on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two presidents singled out high technology, the automotive industry, energy and infrastructure as particularly promising areas of partnership between their countries.

Yoon said the South Korean companies which have investments in Bulgaria highly value their cooperation with Bulgarian businesses.

Radev noted the fast development of the auto sector in Bulgaria and spoke about plans to build an industrial zone for battery production, adding that South Korea is a leader in both areas. He said Sofia and Seoul can also promote their partnership in the production of automated systems, automotive software and artificial intelligence, including by using the potential of the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology in Sofia, the first institute of its kind in Southeastern Europe.

Radev went on to suggest that South Korea could step up its relations with Bulgaria in the field of defence and related systems and technology.

He invited Yoon to visit Bulgaria to add impetus to political dialogue and bilateral cooperation.
