An earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale was recorded on the Peloponnese peninsula, southern Greece, on Tuesday shortly before 7 p.m., Skai TV reported. According to the Institute of Geodynamics in Greece, the epicentre of the quake was 7 km west of the settlement of Kyllini on the west coast of Peloponnese, and the focus was at a depth of 5 km.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1. The earthquake was also felt in the city of Patras. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The earthquakes that have affected the area of the islands of Santorini and Amorgos in the Cyclades group since the end of January persist.

The strongest earthquake of the day in the area, a five on the Richter scale, occurred at 6:46 a.m. with an epicentre 17 km south-southeast of the city of Arkesini of Amorgos. About an hour and a half later, a 4.9 was felt 27 km south-southwest of Arkesini.
