A commemorative event on the 152nd anniversary of the death of Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski took place at the Youth Centre bearing his name in Taraclia. The event brought together representatives of the local authorities, educational and cultural institutions, as well as citizens who came to pay tribute to the national hero of Bulgaria.

Among the official guests were Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department for State Policy in the Field of Interethnic Relations at the Moldovan Ministry of Education Ivan Duminika, Chair of the Moldovan Taraclia District Lazar Dermenji, and others.

Dermenji stressed the importance of Vasil Levski not only as a fighter for national liberation, but also as a symbol of honesty, justice, and sacrifice.

Dr. Duminika said that as part of the Bulgarian nation, the Bessarabian Bulgarians honour the memory of Vasil Levski.

After the official speeches, students performed a literary and musical programme.

Before the official part at the Youth Centre, students from Taraclia schools, teachers and guests held a procession along the main street of the town, carrying portraits of Vasil Levski. They laid flowers in front of the Levski memorial plaque and bust monument.
