site.btaCustoms Officers Seize 137 Kg of Marijuana at Gyueshevo Border Crossing

Customs officials have seized 137 kg of marijuana at the Gyueshevo border control checkpoint, the Customs Agency reported Friday. The narcotic substance was found hidden in two heavy duty trucks registered in North Macedonia late on December 18.

The trucks were transporting ore cargo to Turkiye. During a detailed check, the customs officials found in the trailer of the second composition tailor-made hiding places - cavities in wooden cross-boards. In them, 320 packages of marijuana were found, with a total weight of 137.045 kilogrammes.

Under the direction of the Kyustendil District Prosecution Office a pre-trial investigation is being conducted for smuggling of a narcotic substance across the border.

The drivers of the trucks, G.N. and I.M., citizens of North Macedonia, have been charged in the case and detained for up to 72 hours.
