MOTO EXPO 2025, the largest specialized motorcycle exhibition in Bulgaria, opened in Sofia on Friday.
Speaking at the opening press conference, Stanislav Panchev, Chair of the Motorcycles Section at the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Their Authorized Representatives in Bulgaria and a representative of Italia Motors, said that the motorcycle market in Bulgaria closed 2024 with approximately 3,500 new registrations. This marks an increase of around 13.5% compared to 2023, when some 3,090 new motorcycles and two-wheelers were registered, based on Traffic Police data. Panchev noted that nearly all motorcycle brands available on the Bulgarian market have seen a rise in sales.
The market in Europe is also growing, particularly in the five major countries that serve as market indicators: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. In these countries, just over one million motorcycles were sold in 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of about 100,000 units, or 10%, Panchev explained.
In Bulgaria, the first quarter of 2025 saw 645 new two-wheeler registrations, which is slightly below the 650 recorded during the same period in 2024. However, Panchev emphasized that the first quarter is not always indicative of overall trends, as it is influenced by factors such as weather conditions, model launches, and shipment schedules. Traditionally, the second quarter is the most active and important for the Bulgarian market.
This year’s MOTO EXPO will feature numerous premieres, with more than 65 new models on display and over 700 machines in total. All authorized importers of motorcycle brands in Bulgaria are participating, alongside more than 100 companies showcasing accessories, specialized equipment, and motorcycle clothing, Panchev added.
MOTO EXPO 2025 is taking place from April 11 to 14 at Arena 8888 Sofia.
