"The accession of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen will increase the level of our collective security," said here on Monday European Commission (EC) Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, who took part in the trilateral meeting between the prime ministers od Bulgaria, Romania and Greece. held at the Euxinograd residence.

"This means better control at external borders instead of concentrating resources at internal borders. Both countries have made significant progress when it comes to migratory pressure," said Schinas. 

He expressed the view that a "positive decision on Schengen" could be reached by the end of the vis-a-vis Bulgaria and Romania. 

Commenting the European Union's enlargement towards the Western Balkans, Schinas said that this depends on the progress in the reforms of each country. 

"Both Ukraine and Moldova are ready to do their utmost with unprecedented speed to be able to ensure that they have carried out the necessary reforms. They are now on their way to becoming full members of our family," the Commission Vice-President further said. 

Regarding the situation in the State of Israel, Schinas confirmed that the foreign ministers will meet in Brussels on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov hosted the meeting, which was attended by his counterparts from Greece and Romania - Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Marcel Ciolacu. The forum was also attended by EU Transport Commissioner Adina Valean. Moldova's Energy Minister Victor Parlicov also participated.
