Turkish gendarmerie teams in Adrianople have intercepted 64 migrants trying to enter Bulgaria.

The intercepted migrants are of Syrian, Afghan and Palestinian origin.

They were discovered during patrols by the gendarmerie command teams in Edirne while they were hiding in a wooded area near the city waiting for an opportune moment to illegally cross the Turkish-Bulgarian border, the local Valiyat reported.

The illegal migrants were handed over to the Regional Directorate for Migration Management.
