Bulgarian artists Penka Mincheva and Kalin Serapionov are among the 10 participants in Art Colony Galicnik 2023 in the Republic of North Macedonia, said the Bulgarian Cultural Institute with the Foreign Ministry. The event is on August 12 to 20 in the village of Galicnik.

It is the 34th edition of the Art Colony. The theme this year is Decolonization of Nature.

Using the natural sources without any strategy and plan will lead to imbalances in nature and the eco-systems will strike back in various forms and shapes, including pandemics, earthquakes and tsunamis, devastation, the organizers say. "Should we keep on with our supremacy over the Earth or should we start using natural resources with control and strategy? Are we colonizers of nature and should we start decolonizing it from ourselves?"

Also participating in Art Colony Galicnik are Anica Vucetic and Jelena Vladusic of Serbia; Efi Fouriki of Greece; Furuya Takahisa of Japan; Lars den Hertog of the Netherlands; Yll Xhaferi of Kosovo; Ivan Blazev and Filip Velkovski of North Macedonia.

The Bulgarian Culture and Information Centre in Sofia is a traditional partner of the initiative.
