August 21, 1924: First International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria Starts

The first International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria started on August 21, 1924, with 21 entrants. The start and the finish were in Sofia's National Assembly Square.

The Tour ended on September 7, 1924. The distance was 1,917 km, divided into 10 stages that passed through Sofia, Vratsa, Lom, Pleven, [Veliko] Tarnovo, Ruse, Varna, Burgas, Sliven and Plovdiv.

The first place went to Kosta Dyulgerov and Georgi Abadzhiev, who clocked the same time, 85:46:30. The difference between the winners and the last rider to finish was 19 hours.
