A replica of a Viking boat is among the vessels on the 67th Tour International Danubien (TID). The tour reached Ruse on the Bulgarian stretch of the Danube Wednesday.

Austrian physician Reinhard Sovinz, 71, built the boat together with his children 35 years ago. As a model, he used a vessel he saw in a museum in Oslo. Twelve years ago, he and his ship joined TID, the world's longest paddle expedition, for the first time. This year, Sovinz joined the other 120 entrants from three continents in Mohacs, Hungary.

TID is the longest tour for canoes, kayaks and rowboats taking place on the Danube since 1956. Its route totals a 2,516 km. Each participant carries their own luggage and tent. The actual route starts off in Ingolstadt (Germany), usually on the second last weekend of June, from where it leads through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
