The 16-panel documentary Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria exhibition, which is part of the Traveling Expositions programme of the State Institute for Culture at the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was displayed on the fence of the Bulgarian Embassy in Stockholm, the Institute told BTA on Tuesday. The exhibition marks the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Sweden.

The photographs depict artistically crafted gold objects of high historical value, dating from the 6th-5th centuries BC. Among them are precious vessels, jewelry, weapons, works from the Panagyurishte and Valchitran gold treasures. The objects testify to a high artistic style in antiquity and amaze with their remarkable ornamentation and elegance.

The project aims to increase the positive image and recognition of Bulgaria as a tourist destination among the Swedish public, by presenting the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage and creating a permanently promoting Bulgaria space around the Embassy.

The long-term goal is the permanent availability of photographs related to Bulgarian culture, literature, tourism and natural attractions, through which to promote bilateral relations and cultural exchange with Sweden. Presentation of tourist destinations in Bulgaria, as well as the Bulgarian alphabet, are planned in the future.

Partners of the project in the Swedish capital are the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center for Tracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the State Institute for Culture of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
