site.btaMedicines Movement Tracking System to Be Tested Next Week

Sofia, January 23 (BTA) - An electronic system tracking the movement of medicines from import to potential export has been developed and will undergo a test run next week, Bulgarian Deputy Health Minister Zheni Nacheva told a forum on medicines verification. The system will be monitoring the stocks and movements of medicinal products in the country. Once it starts to work normally, it will become operational.

Nacheva recalled that a public procurement procedure has been launched for the design of an electronic prescription as part of a national integrated information system. Business processes in the area of medicines will thus be organized transparently and effectively.

The European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) will go into operation on February 9, Nacheva said. Among other things, the purpose of verification is to prevent falsified medicines from entering the legal supply chain. LI/LG
