Sofia, May 6 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva and Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva have sent condolences to their Russian counterparts on the heavy loss of life in a fire on board a passenger plane on Sunday, their respective press centres reported on Monday.

Forty-one people were killed as a Sukhoi Superjet 100 caught fire when it crash-landed at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on Sunday.

In a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Radev expressed most sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured to get well soon. "At this harrowing moment, the thoughts of Bulgarians are with the friendly Russian people," the head of State pointed out.

"Please convey my empathy with the anguish of those who have lost their loved ones and my wishes for speedy recovery of those injured in this serious accident," Borissov wrote to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Karayancheva sent letters of condolences to Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and to Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

Zaharieva cabled condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release that there is no information of any Bulgarian citizens among the casualties of the Sukhoi Superjet fire. LI/LG
