site.btaPresident Radev Arrives on Working Visit to Singapore
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev arrived on a working visit to Singapore on Thursday.
On Friday, the head of State will confer with his Singaporean counterpart, Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Radev is also scheduled to meet with the country's Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, the President’s Press Secretariat said.
The visit is intended to advance bilateral dialogue at the highest political level and to promote partnerships between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
Singapore is currently home to some 250 Bulgarian nationals, the largest Bulgarian community in the Southeast Asian region.
Bulgarians in Singapore are mostly highly educated professionals working in the financial and engineering sectors, musicians, students, etc. Promising areas for strengthening cooperation with Singapore include trade, investment, information technology and digitalization, and scientific exchange.
President Radev will be in Singapore until November 24, when he will leave for an official visit to Vietnam.
During the two visits, he will be accompanied by Bulgarian business representatives woking in defence and the automotive, engineering, and high-tech industries. The delegation led by Radev includes caretaker Education and Science Minister Galin Tsokov, Innovation and Growth Minister Rosen Karadimov, Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev, and mayors of Bulgarian municipalities. The President will be accompanied by his spouse, Desislava Radeva.
