The Council of Ministers Wednesday decided to recommend that President Rumen Radev issue a decree to relieve Major General Yavor Mateev from his role as Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), and appoint him as the Military Representative of the Chief of Defence to the NATO Military Committee and the EU Military Committee, promoting him to the rank of Lieutenant General, effective December 19, 2024, the Government Information Service said here on Wednesday.

The cabinet has recommended Bozhidar Boikov for the position of Commander of JSOC, with a promotion to Brigadier General, starting December 19, 2024.

Flotilla Admiral Georgi Penev is recommended for promotion to Rear Admiral, effective December 19, 2024.

The cabinet also recommended the release of Lieutenant General Tsanko Stoykov from his position as Deputy Chief of Defence and from military service, effective January 5, 2025, due to him reaching the mandatory retirement age.

Major General Krasimir Kanev is set to be relieved from his position as Commander of the Joint Forces Command (JFC). The cabinet recommends his appointment as Deputy Chief of Defence, with a promotion to Lieutenant General, starting January 5, 2025.

The Council of Ministers recommends Brigadier General Stanimir Hristov be relieved from his position as Chief of Staff of the Land Forces and appointed as Commander of JFC, with a promotion to Major General, effective January 5, 2025.

The cabinet recommends that Brigadier General Hristo Ganetsovski be relieved from his position as Deputy Commander of JFC and from military service, effective January 6, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age.

The cabinet recommends that Flotilla Admiral Galin Manev be relieved from his role as Chief of Staff of JFC and be appointed as Deputy Commander of the JFC, starting January 6, 2025.

Colonel Hristo Hristov is nominated for the position of Chief of Staff of JFC and for promotion to Brigadier General, starting January 6, 2025.
